Dr. Salah Shaban
An Egyptian visual artist, born in Sohag in 1981. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Luxor (2004) and works as an Assistant Professor in the Sculpture Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Luxor. He is a member of the Egyptian Syndicate of Plastic Artists, a member of the Cairo Academy for Artists and Writers, and a member of the Arab Society for Islamic Civilization and Arts.
He works in painting, environmental sculpture, and copper embossing, and has participated in more than 60 group and international exhibitions, including the Talae Exhibition at the Art Lovers Society, the Youth Salon, the General Exhibition, the Southern Salon, the Alexandria Library “Wings” exhibition, and Cairo Art Fair at Gallery Tam in Cairo, alongside group exhibitions at private galleries such as Art Talks, Noon, Tam, Cordoba, and Khan Al-Maghraby.
He has held nine solo exhibitions, most notably “Eve and the Bull” at Noon Gallery, “The Amazing Journey” at the Cairo Academy, “The Inverted Situation” at the Diplomats Club in Cairo, and “Mythical Features” at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Luxor. He also took part in the first Halayeb and Shalateen Forum for Painting and Photography (2024), the first Gharbia Forum “Moulids” (2025), and the second Fedeta Symposium for Marble Sculpture in the New Administrative Capital (2023).
His works are part of the collections of the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art in Cairo, the Ministry of Culture, the Commercial International Bank (CIB), the universities of Assiut, Minya, and Luxor, and the New Administrative Capital, as well as private collections in Egypt and abroad.
Notable awards include the Sculpture Prize at the 24th Youth Salon (2013), the Acquisition Prize at the Museum of Modern Art (2019), a gold medal from the first University Youth Symposium at Assiut University (2003), and the Excellence Shield for Artistic Creativity from New Thebes City (2015), in addition to numerous certificates of appreciation.
